This photo was taken in Raton, New Mexico. The small city has several of these symbols. But, why? The "Whirling Log" symbol was been used throughout the history of the world, including Native American tribes in New Mexico.
In Sanskrit it mean “well-being” and has been associated with order and stability. Raton was founded long before the Nazi came into powerful. Most of the buildings were built before the 1920s. After WWII the Native American tribes discontinued using the symbol because it was taunted.
Location: Raton, New Mexico.
